Meeting of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan with the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uganda

Meeting of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan R.N. Minnikhanov with the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of  Uganda ,Kenya and Zimbabwe to the Russian Federation

The meeting took place in the Governor's Palace of the Kazan Kremlin - the residence of the President of Tatarstan.

The Ambassadors held a number of meetings and negotiations, visited industrial sites and production facilities, got acquainted with the economic and industrial potential of the Republic of Tatarstan during their working visit . The delegations also visited the  Center of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University , meetings at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan.

During the meeting in the Kazan Kremlin, H.E Rustam Minnikhanov, welcomed the guests, stressed that Africa is a continent, unique in terms of natural resources and potential, which has demonstrated impressive rates of economic growth in recent years. Russia's relations with African countries have always remained warm and developed in a constructive way.

The President said that Tatarstan highly appreciates the opportunity to establish cooperation between the Republic and Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe within the framework of Russia's friendly relations with these countries, the President of Tatarstan emphasized.

In general, according to the President , there is great potential for developing ties in such areas as oil refining and petrochemistry, energy, mechanical engineering, automotive and production of components for them, IT and other high technologies, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agribusiness and other areas.  

Within the framework of today's meeting, President Rustam Minnikhanov also  talked briefly about the Republic of Tatarstan as one of the leading and industrially developed subjects of the Russian Federation. He noted that the basis of the economy of Tatarstan is oil production and oil refining. Another important area is petrochemistry, since Tatarstan is the largest producer and exporter of synthetic rubber and polymers. In addition, the region has a developed aircraft industry - the production of airplanes and helicopters, as well as engine building, the production of trucks (KAMAZ), ships, gas pumping stations, compressors; electronics and optics.

The Ambassadors and their delegations were also informed that the International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World:" KazanSummit "is held annually in Kazan. Members of the delegation of  Uganda , Kenya and Zimbabwe were invited to take part in the next summit, which will be held on July 28-30, 2021. This is a good platform for discussing cooperation issues and implementing joint projects; presentation of economic opportunities and investment potential; establishing business contacts.

Rustam Minnikhanov also touched upon cooperation in the cultural and educational spheres. Thus, about 20 thousand foreign students study at the universities of Tatarstan. Including from Uganda , Kenya and Zimbabwe
