Uganda To Establish a Mineral Research Institute

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation , David O.O. Obong, Professor Kwesigwa Charles, Executive Director of Uganda Industrial Research Institute and Professor Tickodri Togboa , Chairman of Kiira Motors at the Laboratory of nanotechnologies at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST)-MISiS, University of Moscow 

NUST-MISiS  has submitted a draft MoU to be considered by the Ministry of Science , Technology and Innovation of Uganda .

The history of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS dates back to over a century ago, when in 1918 the Moscow Mining Academy was founded, with the metallurgy department being a part of it. The University was gradually expanding, and already by 1921 the departments were transformed into universities; in 1930 it was divided into six independent institutions.

As of today, three of them Steel Institute, Base Metal Institute and Mining Institute merged into one educational establishment, the National University of Science and Technology NUST MISIS.

Uganda is in the process of  establishing a Mineral Research Institute , NUST-MISiS could be a great partner in the areas of research, capacity building and carrying out joint venture
