Amb. Moses Kauaaluuko Kizige in Volgograd Region for a two day working visit

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to the Russian Federation Moses Kauaaluuko Kizige has been in Volgograd Region for a two day working visit from 05 to 06 December 2022.

 

He met Governor Andrei Bocharov and discussed the prospects for developing cooperation between Uganda   and Volgograd Region in the spheres of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism among others.

 

Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad, is a city in southwest Russia, on the western bank of the Volga River. It was the site of WWII’s Battle of Stalingrad, commemorated by a huge statue,

 

Ambassador Kizige visited Kurgan memorial complex accompanied by the Deputy Governor Anna Pisemskaya Sergeevna. He expressed his admiration for the steadfastness and courage of the defenders of Stalingrad.

 

Ambassador Kizige also me visited the Volgograd State University where he called for cooperation between the university and Ugandan universities and asked the university to admit more Ugandans. This year one Uganda student Raymond Kigundu was admitted to study Information Technology.

 

Russia is a country whose development is education led. It's a destination that Ugandans should consider for education especially in the fields of science; nuclear science, medicine, engineering, space science, aerospace, gas and petroleum among others.

 

Governor Andrey Bocharov  congratulated Uganda for joining the club of space powers. The country’s satellite was launched into low Earth orbit on 02 December.

 

The Governor noted that the USSR was one of the first states to recognize the sovereignty of Uganda. Russia and  Ugandan also adhere to similar positions on major issues in the international arena.

 

Governor Andrei Bocharov said that several Volgograd enterprises have already expressed their readiness to cooperate with partners from Uganda. The authorities of the region will look for opportunities to establish interaction between business structures.

 

Ambassador Kizige thanked the people of Volgograd for their hospitality which equated to the Ugandan hospitality. Uganda is a very hospitable country, I invite you to visit Uganda said  Kizige .

 

The Governor invited Ugandan delegations to take part in the international public diplomacy forum “Dialogue on the Volga: Peace and Mutual Understanding in the 21st Century.”

 

Ambassador Kizige also met the enterprises that are interested in doing business with Uganda and invited

 them to invest and trade with Uganda. He assured them of market potential of Uganda and the East African community, Uganda being the hub for business.

 

He also met representatives of ; Volgograd State University, Volgograd State Technical University, Volgograd State Agrarian University, Volgograd State Social- Pedagogical United.
