H.E. Moses K. Kizige the Ambassador designate to the Republic of Uzbekistan Presented Credentials to H.E. Bakhtiyor Odilovich Saidov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On 16th October 2024, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uganda presented his copies of the Credentials to H.E. Bakhtiyor Odilovich Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Minister congratulated and welcomed the Ambassador and his delegation to Tashkent, He informed him that the Ambassador was the first Ugandan Ambassador to be accredited to Uzbekistan a great milestone to cement the bilateral relations between both States. He added that the Republic of Uganda is a significant in the continent of Africa and are therefore very interested in deepening relations with her.

The Minister therefore believed that cooperation will be beneficial to both for development. He informed the Ambassador of his fruitful bilateral meeting with this counterpart Gen. Jeje Odongo. He further highlighted Uzbekistan’s next chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement(NAM) in 2027 and therefore requests for an update of the different activities that Uganda is undertaking as the current Chairman. The Ambassador appreciated the Minister and the ministry of Foreign Affairs for the warm welcome and for cementing the cooperation with Uganda by crediting him to Uzbekistan. He informed the Minister that Uganda welcomes the proposal to deepen the relations between both countries to allow mutual bilateral cooperation, official and exchange visits between the Government officials and the people.

The Ambassador noted that Uganda and Uzbekistan have a lot in common, which include both countries being land locked and both being the centers of Asia and Africa respectively. The Ambassador highlighted that since Uganda is the Chair of the NAM a lot is been done through Uganda’s Mission in New York and will be avail an update to Uzbekistan as it prepares to take up the Chairmanship from Uganda. He appreciated Uzbekistan’s support at the UN and other international Organization forum. The Minister also informed the Ambassador that Uzbekistan has established a strategy focusing on African countries. Which also saw Uganda –Uzbekistan’s establishing diplomatic relations an MOU that was signed in January 2024.
