REPUBLIC OF UGANDA AT 62 SINCE 1962
The event commemorated 62 years since Uganda gained her independence from British rule on 9th October 1962. The event was also used to celebrate the cordial diplomatic ties between Uganda and Russian Federation dating back to 1962.
The Chief Guest of the colorful event ceremony was Mr. Anatoliy Gennadyevich; the Director of Africa Affairs, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Others in attendance were Heads of Missions, other Diplomats, Russian Government officials, Russian Business Community and Ugandan Diaspora among others.
Amb. Moses K. Kizige, the Head of Mission appreciated the Uganda Government effort and support to the Embassy to have continued cordial relations down the years. He further thanked the Russian Government for the continuous technical and material support accorded to Uganda.
The Two sides have continued supporting each other on the international forum. He highlighted the recent participation of Mr. Vershinin Sergey Vasilievich, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Non-Aligned Movement and G77+China that was held in Kampala 2024.
The Head of Mission noted the increased number of Russian investors and tourists who are visiting Uganda for investment and business establishment. He added that there’s also an ongoing negotiation to import Uganda Vegetables, flowers, fruits and fish into the Russian Federation market. He further informed that Ugandan coffee is already in the Russian Market.
